2024 Markham Summer of Safety Series

Markham Fire and Emergency Services is thrilled to host four public education open houses at fire stations across the city this summer to promote fire prevention and emergency preparedness, and you're invited!

The free Summer of Safety Series will give residents valuable information and practical skills to enhance their safety and readiness in case of emergencies.

There will be fun activities for families, seniors, and even your pets! Event highlights include interactive displays, informational booths, Q&A sessions with our dedicated firefighters and emergency management personnel, and exciting prizes and giveaways. Also, enjoy a BBQ with hot dogs and beverages – while supplies last!

Fire Prevention Demonstrations:

  • Kitchen safety tips
  • Smoke alarm installation & maintenance
  • Home escape plan advice

Emergency Preparedness Booths:

  • Prize wheel with fun questions and giveaways
  • Tips on creating family emergency communication plans
  • Pet preparedness kit information
  • Car emergency kit essentials

Children's Activities:

  • Firefighter dress-up station
  • Fire hose target practice
  • Coloring and activity sheets with fire safety themes

Registration is not required. So don't miss out on this fun, educational, and inclusive event! Come meet your local firefighters, learn crucial safety tips, and enjoy a day out with the community. Together, we can ensure a safer Markham!

  • Wednesday, July 17, 5 PM to 9 PM at Fire Station 93 (2930 Major MacKenzie Drive E.)
  • Saturday, August 10, 10 AM to 2 PM at Fire Station 99 (3255 Bur Oak Avenue)
  • Wednesday, August 21, 5 PM to 8 PM at Fire Station 91 (7801 Bayview Avenue, Thornhill)
